Distribution
Known only from the type locality (Cañaris, Ferreñafe Province, Lambayeque Department) at an elevation of 3200 m in the northern region of the Cordillera Occidental in northwestern Peru.

Comment
Unassigned to species group according to the original publication, where comparative morphology was detailed. Previously confused with Pristimantis phoxocephalus (Duellman and Lehr, 2009, Terrest.-breeding Frogs in Peru: 217); molecular data associated with Pristimantis sp. (CORBIDI 2848, of Páez and Ron, 2019, ZooKeys, 868: Suppl. Material 3)
