Type locality: "Colombia, Departamento de Antioquia, Municipio Frontino, Km. 23 carretera Nutibara - La Blanquita (= Murri), 1430 m."

Elevations of 1000–1900 m on the western versant of the Cordillera Occidental in the departments of Antioquia, Chocó, and Risaralda, between 4° 55′ N and 7° 15′ N.

Subgenus Eleutherodactylus, but unassigned to species group according to the original publication.
