Eleutherodactylus salaputium Duellman, 1978, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 91: 428. Holotype: KU 162292, by original designation. Type locality: "Río Cosñipata, 4 km SW Santa Isabel, 1,700 m, Departamento Cuzco, Perú (13° 05′ S; 71° 18′W)".

Elevations of 1500–2400 m in the Río Cosñipata Valley and the Río Apurimac Valley on the Amazonian slopes of the Cordillera Oriental in southern Peru.

In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) martinicensis series, Eleutherodactylus unistrigatus group, according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 232. De la Riva, Köhler, Lötters, and Reichle, 2000, Rev. Esp. Herpetol., 14: 58, and Köhler, 2000, Bonn. Zool. Monogr., 48: 69, consider this species possibly to occur in Bolivia. In the Pristimantis (Pristimantis) unistrigatus species group of Hedges, Duellman, and Heinicke, 2008, Zootaxa, 1737: 128.
