Bufoides Pillai and Yazdani, 1973, J. Zool. Soc. India, 25: 65. Type species: Ansonia meghalayana Yazdani and Chanda, 1971, by original designation.

Distribution

Garo and Khasi Hillis of the eastern Himalayan region of India (Meghalaya).  

Comment

Smith and Chiszar, 2006, Herpetol. Conserv. Biol., 1: 6-8, implied that this taxon should be considered a subgenus of Bufo; see comment under Bufonidae. Not included in any published phylogenetic analysis so its phylogenetic placement is unknown. Naveen, Chandramouli, Kadam, Babu, Karunakaran, Kumara, and Parthasarathy, 2022, J. Threatened Taxa, 14: 22277–22292, reported on the species within the genus.
