Related to Dendrophryniscus brevipollicatus according to the original publication. Cruz and Fusinatto, 2008, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 3: 25, commented on the range. Fusinatto, Cruz, and Garcia, 2008, Check List, 4: 248-250, provided additional records for the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná, Brazil. Dena, Zornosa-Torres, Bolovon, Paiva, Machado, Prado, Ernetti, Carrasco-Medina, Assis, Lingnau, Llanos, Toledo, and Augusto-Alves, 2024, Bioacoustics, 33: 401–432, reported on the advertisement call.
