Confused with Dendrophryniscus brevipollicatus prior to its naming, according to the original publication. Botelho, Barbosa, Prado, Pedrozo, Moroti, Toledo, and Muscat, 2023, J. Nat. Hist., London, 57: 596–607, reported on larval morphology, reproductive biology, and natural history.
