Duttaphrynus chandai Das, Chetia, Dutta, and Sengupta, 2013, Zootaxa, 3646: 338. Holotype: ZSIC A 11453, by original designation. Type locality: "Khonoma village, 25° 38. 505’ and 94° 01.479’, 1568 m. asl., . . . , small rocky first order stream, ca. 2-4 m wide at the collection location".

Distribution
Known only from a small area of Manipur (Chandel District, 1240 m elevation) and southwestern Nagaland near the Manipur border (Khonoma, Dzuleke, and Thekhekhwei Hill, 1568 to 1787 m elevation); also reported from Hmuifang Community Reserve Forest, central Mizoram, India; photograph tentatively identified from Pema Gatshel District, Bhutan.

Lalremsanga, Muansanga, Mathipi, Biakzuala, Rinsanga, Zothanzama, Kumar, and Purkayastha, 2020, Reptiles & Amphibians, 27: 467–471, provided a record from Hmuifang Community Reserve Forest, central Mizoram, India, mapped the ranged, commented on natural history, and noted that molecular markers suggest that the nearest relative is Duttaphrynus stuarti. Wangyal, Bower, Sherub, Tshewang, Wangdi, Rinchen, Puntsho, Tashi, Koirala, Bhandari, Phuntsho, Koirala, Ghalley, Chaida, Tenzin, Powrel, Tshewang, Raika, Jamtsho, Kinley, Gyeltshen, Tashi, Nidup, Wangdi, Phuentsho, Norbu, Wangdi, Wangchuk, Tobgay, Dorji, and Das, 2020, Herpetol. Rev., 51: 793, tentatively identified a photograph of this species from Bhutan. Decemson, Siammawii, Mathipi, Biakzuala, and Lalremsanga, 2021, Herpetol. Notes, 14: 1219–1223, provided a record from Chandel District, Manipur State, India, 1240 m elevation.
