Bufo wokhaensis Mathew and Sen, 2009, Rec. Zool. Surv. India, Occas. Pap., 293: 12. Holotype: ZSI-E 800, by original designation. Type locality: "Wokha Rest House compound, Wokha district, Nagaland (N26° 6′ 20.4″ E 94° 15′ 24.2″), Alt. 1366 m above msl".

Mathew and Sen, 2010, Pict. Guide Amph. NE India: 23-24, provided a brief characterization and photographs. Das, Chetia, Dutta, and Sengupta, 2013, Zootaxa, 3646: 336–348, compared this species with other Duttaphrynus from northeastern India.
