Confused with Ingerophrynus galeatus prior to its naming. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 208–209, provided a brief account (as Bufo ledongensis) including photographs. Shi, 2011, Amph. Rept. Fauna Hainan: 42–43, provided an account (as Bufo galeatus). Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 261, provided an account (as Qianbufo ledongensis), photographs, and range map. Fei and Ye, 2016, Amph. China, 1: 780–782, provided an account (as Qiangobufo ledongensis), photograph, and dot map.
