Leptophryne javanica Hamidy, Munir, Mumpuni, Rahmania, and Kholik, 2018, Zootaxa, 4450: 431. Holotype: MZB Amph 15946, by original designation. Type locality: "from the north-western slope of Mt. Slamet, Curug [water fall] Awu, Desa (village) Guci, Kecamatan (sub district) Bumi Jawa, Kabupaten (regency) Tegal, Provinsi (Province) Jawa Tengah (S 7°11'57.51", E 109°10'4.94", elevation 1400 m a.s.l.)". Common Names
Ciremai Bleeding Toad (Cahyadi and Noerwana, 2021, Herpetol. Rev., 52: 342).
Distribution
Northwestern slope of Mount Slamet (Jawa Tengah Province) and in Mount Ciremai (Jawa Barat Province), and 37 km to the southwest at Gunung Sawal Wildlife Reserve, Cihaurbeuti District (Jawa Barat Province), Indonesia (Java), likely endemic to mountains in the central part of the island with an elevation of 1200–1500 m.

Comment
Previously confused with Leptophryne cruentata according to the original publication. Chan and Grismer, 2019, BMC Evol. Biol., 19(95): 3, suggested that the sequence divergence between this species and Leptophryne cruentata is so low (below 5%) that they may be conspecific. Cahyadi and Noerwana, 2021, Herpetol. Rev., 52: 342–343, provided a record from Gunung Sawal Wildlife Reserve, Cihaurbeuti District (Jawa Barat Province), Indonesia (Java) and discussed the range.
