Distribution

known only from two localities in cloud forest on the northern and eastern slopes of Cerro Candelaria, Río  Verde and Río Negro Parish, Baños Township, Tungurahua Province, Ecuador, at elevations ranging from 2568 to 2725 m.

Comment

Comparative external and skull morphology, morphometrics, molecular markers detailed in the original publication, where the species was found to be the sister taxon of Osornophryne sumacoensis in the Osornophryne guacamayo species group.
