Comment

See comment under Platymantis bimaculata. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 87, provided a brief account. Portik, Streicher, and Wiens, 2023, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 188 (107907): 25, placed this species phylogenetically, as Platymantis batantae, within Cornufer, but without taking any taxonomic action and apparently without regard to the earlier paper by Brown, Siler, Richards, Diesmos, and Cannatella, 2015, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 174: 140, where the same conclusion had been reached. Oliver, Davie-Rieck, Ramdani, Dashper, Kusuma, Lee, Rittmeyer, Clancy, Hamidy, Thompson, Fouquet, Ferreira, and Richards, 2025, Pacific Conserv. Biol., 31(PC24063): 1–12, as part of a larger discussion of the role of citizen science in documenting species ranges in Melanesia noted that iNaturalist observations suggest that the range of this introduced species (or an unnamed member of the species complex) includes the mainland near Sorong, Papua, Indonesia.
