Platymantis cheesmanae Parker, 1940, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., Ser. 11, 5: 257. Holotype: BMNH 1938.6.5.28, by original designation (renumbered 1947.2.4.43, according to Günther, 2006 "2005", Zool. Abh. Staatl. Mus. Tierkd. Dresden, 55: 86). Type locality: "dense forest in the Cyclops Range, Dutch New Guinea [=Papua, Indonesia], at 3000-4000 feet".
