Platymantis cryptotis Günther, 1999, Mitt. Mus. Naturkd. Berlin, Zool., 75: 318. Holotype: ZMB 58733, by original designation. Type locality: "within 50 m of the river Utowa at 100 km along the Nabire-Mapia road at an altitude of 150 m NN, Irian Jaya [now Papua]", New Guinea, Indonesia.

Platymantis cryptotis yapeni Günther, 2015, Vert. Zool., Dresden, 65: 108. Holotype: ZMB 80351, by original designation. Type locality: "1.5 km west of the fi shing village of Barawai, eastern tip of Yapen Island, 10 m a.s.l., 1°48′39′′S and 136°51′26′′E, Cenderawasih Bay, Papua Province, Indonesia".

None noted.
Distribution
Known only the region of the type locality in western Papua (New Guinea) and from Yapen Island, Indonesia.
Comment
Most closely related to Platymantis papuensis according to the original publication. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 89, provided a brief account.
