Rana ventricosus Vogt, 1912, Sitzungsber. Ges. Naturforsch. Freunde Berlin, 1912: 8. Holotype: Deposition not stated; presumably SMF. Type locality: "Lambussa" (= Rambutyo) Island, Admiralty Islands. Junior primary homonym of Rana ventricosa Linnaeus, 1758 (= Bufo bufo).

Rana bufoniformis cognata Hediger, 1933, Verh. Naturforsch. Ges. Basel, 44: 22. Holotype: NHMB 4605 according to Forcart, 1946, Verh. Naturforsch. Ges. Basel, 57: 127. Type locality: "Iriu", Admiralty Is. Synonymy with Rana guppyi Boulenger, 1884, by Zweifel, 1960, Am. Mus. Novit., 2023: 4. This rejected by Brown, Siler, Richards, Diesmos, and Cannatella, 2015, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 174: 151, who considered this name to be synonymous with Discodeles vogti.
