Comment

Tribe Ceratophryini (see comment under Ceratophryinae). Removed from the synonymy of Ceratophrys by Maxson and Ruibal, 1988, J. Herpetol., 22: 228-231, where it had been placed by Lynch, 1971, Misc. Publ. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 53: 107. See comment by Cei, 1987, Monit. Zool. Ital., N.S., Suppl., 21: 222. Faivovich, Nicoli, Blotto, Pereyra, Baldo, Barrionuevo, Fabrezi, Wild, and Haddad, 2014, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 9: 207–227, provided evidence that Chacophrys is the sister taxon of Lepidobatrachus, albeit with low jack-knife values.
