Comment

Considered a hybrid between Ceratophrys cranwelli and Lepidobatrachus llanensis by Lynch, 1982, Syst. Zool., 31: 166–179, but this view was rejected by Maxson and Ruibal, 1988, J. Herpetol., 22: 228–231, on the basis of immunological evidence. See Köhler, 1996, Herpetol. Rev., 28: 155–156, for Bolivian record. Rosset, 2001 "2000", Cuad. Herpetol., 14: 165, provided the southern Argentinian record. Brusquetti and Lavilla, 2006, Cuad. Herpetol., 20: 15, briefly discussed the range in Paraguay. Quinzio, Fabrezi, and Faivovich, 2006, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 1: 202–209, described the tadpole. Lescano, 2011, J. Nat. Hist., London, 45: 2929–2938, described the advertisement and distress calls. Weiler, Núñez, Airaldi, Lavilla, Peris, and Baldo, 2013, Anf. Paraguay: 49, provided a brief account, image, and dot map for Paraguay.
