Type locality: "Alto da Serra—São Paulo" and "Rio Grande—São Paulo", Brazil; lectotype from "Alto da Serra—São Paulo", Brazil.

Cyclorhamphus eleutherodactylus var. variegata Lutz, 1929, Mem. Oswaldo Cruz, Rio de Janeiro, 22: 12. Types: Not designated, presumably originally in Lutz collection or IOC; now MNRJ 446, 550–552, 711, and 908–909 according to Caramaschi and Pombal, 2023, Zootaxa, 5339: 470–471, who designated MNRJ 908 lectotype. Type localities: Not specifically designated but Gorham, 1966, Das Tierreich, 85: 47, considered it to be Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, and Serra da Bocaina on the Rio de Janeiro/São Paulo boundary, Brazil. Bokermann, 1966, Lista Anot. Local. Tipo Anf. Brasil.: 32, stated the type localities to be "Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, Gauanabara; Paranapiacaba (= Serra de Cubatão), São Paulo e Serra da Bocaina, São Paulo", Brazil. According to Caramaschi and Pombal, 2023, Zootaxa, 5339: 470–471, the syntypes are from "DF, Sumaré, Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil" (AL-MNRJ 446), "Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil" (AL-MNRJ 550-552), "Alto da Serra de Cubatão, State of São Paulo, Brazil" (AL-MNRJ 711), and "“Bonito, Serra da Bocaina” [22°45’S, 44°33’W; Datum WGS 84; 1,185 m a.s.l.], Municipality of São José do Barreiro, State of São Paulo, Brazil" (AL-MNRJ 908–909); the lectotype being AL-MNRJ 908 and its collection locality being the restricted type locality.

Types: Not designated; presumably originally in the Lutz collection; holotype is now AL-MNRJ 712 according to Caramaschi and Pombal, 2023, Zootaxa, 5339: 470. Type locality not specifically designated but Gorham, 1966, Das Tierreich, 85: 47, considered it to be Alto da Serra, São Paulo, Brazil and Bokermann, 1966, Lista Anot. Local. Tipo Anf. Brasil.: 32, stated it to be "Via Anchieta, Cubatão (= Estrada Nova de São Paulo a Santos) São Paulo", Brazil. Caramaschi and Pombal, 2023, Zootaxa, 5339: 470–471, discussed the holotype and the qualifications surrounding its collection locality.
