Cycloramphus lithomimeticus Silva and Ouvernay, 2012, Zootaxa, 3407: 50. Holotype: MNRJ 80585, by original designation. Type locality: "Cachoeira de Itinguçu (also spelled Itingussu), Coroa Grande, Municipality of Itaguaí, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (22°54′ 3.44″ S; 43°53′ 34.59″ W, near 160 m) collected upriver from the dam used by the State Water Company (CEDAE)".

High gradient stream at the type locality (Cachoeira de Itinguçu, Coroa Grande, Municipality of Itaguaí, near 160 m elevation, and from the Municipality of Mangaratiba. 332 m elevation), both in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

In the Cycloramphus granulosus group according to the original publication. Larval morphology, anatomy, and phylogenetics reported on by Dias, Vera Candioti, Sabbag, Colaço, Silva, Haddad, Carvalho-e-Silva, and Grant, 2021, J. Zool. Syst. Evol. Res., 59: 1297–1321. Carmo, Folly, Pombal, and Hepp, 2024, Ethol. Ecol. Evol., 36: 627–644, reported on the advertisement call.
