Known only from dense-canopy areas of the Serra Sul region of Floresta Nacional de Carajás, in the municipality of Parauapebas, state of Pará, Brazil.

The sister taxon of Allobates crombiei according to the original publication, where adult and larval morphology, advertisement call, molecular markers (16s mtDNA), and natural history were detailed.
