Michigan, 539: 19. Type locality: "rain forest above Boquete on the trail to Chiriquí Grande, 4500 feet [1372 m]", Provincia Chiriquí, Panama.

Discussed by Savage, 1968, Copeia, 1968: 755–757, and Ibáñez D. and Smith, 1995, Copeia, 1995: 446–456. Lips and Savage, 1996, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 109: 17–26, included this species (as Colostethus nubicola) in a key to the tadpoles found in Costa Rica. See account by Savage, 2002, Amph. Rept. Costa Rica: 380–381. See comments on morphology and range by Grant and Myers, 2013, Am. Mus. Novit., 3784: 43–44. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 139, provided compared the species of Siverstoneia in Central America and provided a map and photograph of this species. Dias, Anganoy-Criollo, Rada, and Grant, 2021, J. Zool. Syst. Evol. Res., 59: 691–717, reported on larval external, internal, and buccal anatomy.
