Comment

In the Limnonectes (Limnonectes) grunniens group of Dubois, 1987 "1986", Alytes, 5: 63, who also removed it from the syonymy of Rana magna, where it had been placed by Inger, 1958, Fieldiana, Zool., 39: 253–255. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 481, who suggested that the Moro population is not conspecific with the other populations and that this may be a species complex. Herr, Vallejos, Meneses, Abraham, Otterholt, Siler, Rico, and Brown, 2021, Ichthyol. & Herpetol., 109: 188–210, found that the populations on Mindoro and Semirara, morphologically not distinguishable from Limnonectes acanthi, is distinguishable by call and molecules, which they named Limnonectes beloncioi.
