Comment
See brief account by Bourret, 1942, Batr. Indochine: 260. Suggested to be more closely related to the subgenus Bourretia (now Elachyglossa) by Iskandar in Emerson and Ward, 1998, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 122: 541. In the Limnonectes (Limnonectes) grunniens group of Dubois, 1987 "1986", Alytes, 5: 63. Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 24, suggested that taxonomic status needs confirmation. Stuart, Seateun, Sivongxay, and Phimmachak, 2025 "2024", in Wildlife Lao PDR: 22, briefly summarized literature, taxonomy, habitat, and range for Laos, suggesting that difficulty in identification is the primary reason for its poorly understood distribution.
