Kinabalu Guardian Frog (original publication).
Distribution
Distributed around Kinabalu National Park Headquarters (Silau-Silau Trail, Bundu Tuhan View Trail) at about 1,600 m elevation; specific localities include Sayap (850–900 m) on the western slope of Gunung Kinabalu; tentatively assigned are specimens from Poring on the eastern slope of Gunung Kinabalu and a specimen from Gunung Trusmadi;s also been collected at higher elevations of about 900 m in Tawau Hills National Park, Sabah, Malaysia

Comment
In the Limnonectes palavanensis group and formerly confused with that species, according to the original publication, where comparative molecular markers, morphology, and morphometrics were detailed. See comment under Limnonectes palavanensis for possibly relevant legacy literature.
