Limnonectes pseudodoriae Yodthong, Rujirawan, Stuart, and Aowphol, 2021
Limnonectes pseudodoriae Yodthong, Rujirawan, Stuart, and Aowphol, 2021, Animals, 11 (566): 12. Holotype: ZMKU AM 01567, by original designation. Type locality: "Thailand, Surat Thani Province, Ko Pha-ngan District, Ko Pha-ngan Sub-district, Pheang Waterfall (944.086’ N, 10000.826’ E, 44 m elevation)". http://zoobank.org/urn:lsid: zoobank.org:pub:E7C22C61-774A-49C3-9355-32F88C340B96.
English Names
False Doria’s Fanged Frog (original publication).
Distribution
Currently known from hill and semi-evergreen forests from only three localities in peninsular Thailand (Surat Thani province and, arguably, Phang Nga Province (see comment), and including Ko Pha-ngan Island and Ko Samui Island in the Gulf of Thailand, and Ko Lanta Yai Island in the Andaman Sea), 44–322 m elevation.
Comment
Phylogenetic position based on molecular evidence, advertisement call, and external morphology detailed in the original publication. Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 25, suggested on biogeographic grounds that the record of Limnonectes nitidus (Grosjean, Bordoloi, Chuaynkern, Chakravarty, and Ohler, 2015, Zootaxa, 4058: Suppl. data, Appendix A) from Phang Nga Province, Thailand, is likely a misidentification of Limnonectes pseudodoriae; the identification of this specimen requires confirmation.
