Limnonectes (Elachyglossa) savan Phimmachak, Richards, Sivongxay, Seateun, Chuaynkern, Makchai, Som, and Stuart, 2019, ZooKeys, 846: 139. Holotype: NCSM 76288, by original designation. Distribution
Central and southern Laos (Khammouan, Savannakhet, and Champasak Provinces), and northeastern Thailand (Ubon Ratchatan and Amnat Charoen provinces) in hill and semi-evergreen forest from 254–790 m elevation, and is usually associated with small (1–3 m wide) streams.

Comment
The sister taxon of Limnonectes dabanus according to the original publication, differing in morphology, DNA, and male advertisement call. Niyomwan, Srisom, and Pawangkhanant, 2019, Field Guide Amph. Thailand: 280–281, provided a brief account (description, photographs [including tadpole], habitat, and range) for Thailand (in Thai). Stuart, Seateun, Sivongxay, and Phimmachak, 2025 "2024", in Wildlife Lao PDR: 23, briefly summarized literature, taxonomy, habitat, and range for Laos.
