Comparative morphology and mtDNA 16s molecular markers detailed in the original publcation. Previously confused with Limnonectes kuhlii, but referred to as  Limnonectes sp. Lineage 1, by Matsui, Kuraishi, Eto, Hamidy, Nishikawa, Shimada, Yambun Imbun, Vairappan, and Hossman, 2016, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 102: 307.
