Kirtisinghe, 1957, Amph. Ceylon: 52, considered this form to be a subspecies of Nannophrys ceylonensis; Clarke, 1983, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 79: 387, treated it as a full species. Senevirathne and Meegaskumbura, 2015, Zootaxa, 4032: 241–245, reported on osteology. Senanayake, Siriwardana, Weerakoon, and Wijesinghe, 2019, Herpetol. Conserv. Biol., 14: 261–268, reported on habitat use. Ukuwela, Bandara, De Zoysa, Rupasinghe, and Vandercone, 2020, Russ. J.
