Common Names
Elicio's Marsupial Frog (Székely, Eguiguren, Ordóñez-Delgado, Armijos-Ojeda, and Székely, 2020, PLoS One, 15(9: e0238306): 51).
Distribution
Known only from the vicinity of the city of Loja, Loja Province, Ecuador, in the Loja Basin and slopes of the adjacent cordilleras, below 2600 m elevation

Comment
Confused with Gastrotheca lojana and Gastrotheca monticola previous to its naming, according to the original publication. See comments by Székely, Eguiguren, Ordóñez-Delgado, Armijos-Ojeda, and Székely, 2020, PLoS One, 15(9: e0238306): 51–52. Folly, Amaral, Silveira, Carvalho-e-Silva, and Dias, 2024, J. Morphol., 285(285:e21766): 1–12, reported on larval crania anatomy and discussed phylogenetic significance of these data.
