Gastrotheca litonedis Duellman and Hillis, 1987, Herpetologica, 43: 149. Holotype: KU 202690, by original designation. Type locality: "10 km (by road) northeast of Girón, 2750 m (03° 05′ S, 79° 06′ W), Provincia Azuay, Ecuador".

Common Names
Azuay Marsupial Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 53).
Distribution
Known from three localities (ca. Girón, San Fernando [Laguna de Busa], San Gerardo) on the eastern slope of the Cordillera Occidental in Azuay Province, Ecuador, elevational range is 2750–2854 m.
