Gastrotheca phalarosa Duellman and Venegas, 2005, Herpetologica, 61: 299. Holotype: MUSM 19487, by original designation. Type locality: "Esperanza (06° 49′ 10.1 S, 77° 43′ 21.7 W, 3435 m), Juanjui, Provincia de Huallaga, Departamento de San Martín, Peru".

Distribution

Known only from the type locality (Esperanza) in the vicinity of Laguna de Los Condores in the northern part of the Cordillera central in northern Peru, 3435 m elevation. See comment.

In the Gastrotheca marsupiata group of Castroviejo-Fisher, Padial, De la Riva, Pombal, Silva, Rojas-Runjaic, Medina-Méndez, and Frost, 2015, Zootaxa, 4004: 1–72. See detailed account by Duellman, 2015, Marsupial Frogs: 351–360, who mentioned but did not detail a second locality in the same mountain range but at lower elevation.
