Chimantá-tepui, 1850–2600 m elevation, in southeastern Venezuela (see comment).

See comments regarding distribution of Venezuelan population by Gorzula and Señaris, 1999 "1998", Scient. Guaianae, 8: 45-46. Barrio-Amorós, 1999 "1998", Acta Biol. Venezuelica, 18: 26, noted that reports of this species from Auyantepui refer to Stefania schuberti. Señaris, Lampo, Rojas-Runjaic, and Barrio-Amorós, 2014, Guía Ilust. Anf. Parque Nac. Canaima: 130–131, provided a photograph and a brief account for the Parque Nacional de Canaima, Venezuela. Kok, Russo, Ratz, and Aubret, 2016, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 10(1: Special Section): 5– 12, noted that populations from Abakapá-tepui and Amurí-tepui represent unnamed species. Kok, Russo, Ratz, Means, MacCulloch, Lathrop, Aubret, and Bossuyt, 2017, J. Biogeograph., 44: 170–181, noted several unnamed species covered by this species name.
