Comment

See comments regarding distribution, and close similarity to Stefania ginesi by Gorzula and Señaris, 1999 "1998", Scient. Guaianae, 8: 46. See statement of geographic range, habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 623. Señaris, Lampo, Rojas-Runjaic, and Barrio-Amorós, 2014, Guía Ilust. Anf. Parque Nac. Canaima: 134–135, provided a photograph and a brief account for the Parque Nacional de Canaima, Venezuela. Kok, Russo, Ratz, and Aubret, 2016, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 10(1: Special Section): 5– 12, who noted that populations of of nominal Stefania satelles from Angasima-tepui, Upuigma-tepui, and Murisipán-tepui, Venezuela, represent unnamed species. The population from Murisipán-tepui now named as Stefania lathropae. See Barrio-Amorós, Rojas-Runjaic, and Señaris, 2019, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 13 (1: e180): 59, for comments on range and literature. Señaris and Rojas-Runjaic, 2020, in Rull and Carnaval (eds.), Neotrop. Divers. Patterns Process.: 571–632, commented on range and conservation status in the Venezuelan Guayana. Both Stefania imawari (Angasima-tepui) and Stefania upuigmae (Upuigma-tepui) were confused with this species prior to the naming of these species in 2024, so caution should be exercised in the interpretation of older literature.
