Syntypes: Not stated, presumably originally in IOC, but transferred to the MNRJ; according to Cochran, 1961, Bull. U.S. Natl. Mus., 220: 50, and Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: 25-26, syntypes are AL-MNRJ 577 (2 specimens, Tijuca), USNM 96478 (Angra dos Reis), 96319 (Sumare), 96339-45 (Paineiras); MCZ 25695 (on exchange from USNM, considered a syntype by Barbour and Loveridge, 1946, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 96: 120); UMMZ 68786 (3 adults, 2 tadpoles) regarded as syntypes by Kluge, 1983, Misc. Publ. Mus. Zool. Univ. Michigan, 166: 41. Type locality: "Environs of Rio de Janeiro", Brazil.
