Comment

In the Ptychohyla euthysanota group. Most of the former reports of Ptychohyla spinipollex refer to Ptychohyla hypomykter; see McCranie and Wilson, 1993, Southwest. Nat., 38: 100–104, for summary of the problem. See accounts by Duellman, 2001, Hylid Frogs Middle Am., Ed. 2: 1014–1017, and McCranie and Wilson, 2002, Amph. Honduras: 320–324. McCranie, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 38, summarized the departmental distribution in Honduras. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 278. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 256–261, provided a brief summary of natural history and identification key for the species of Ptychohyla in Central America and provided a range map and photograph for this species. Atlantihyla melissa of the Refugio de Vida Silvestre Texiguat, Cordillera Nombre de Dios, Departments of Atlántida and Yoro, Honduras, was segregated from this nominal species by Townsend, Herrera-B., Hofmann, Luque-Montes, Ross, Dudek, Krygeris, Duchamp, and Wilson, 2020, Vert. Zool., Senckenberg, 70: 731–756.
