In the Atlantic forest of Brazil from Sergipe (state) through the northeastern part of Minas Gerais and the eastern part of Bahia to the northern part of the state of Espirito Santo.

In the Hyla geographica group according to the original publication. In the Hypsiboas semilineatus group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 89. Ferreira and Vrcibradic, 2005, Herpetol. Rev., 36: 332, provided the first record for Espírito Santo, Brazil. Juncá, Camurugi, and Mercês, 2012, Zootaxa, 3184: 64-66, reported on larval morphology.
