Pseudis cardosoi Kwet, 2000, Amphibia-Reptilia, 21: 41. Holotype: MCP 3354, by original designation. Type locality: "Centro de Pesquisas e Conservação de Naturez Pró-Mata, 29° 30′ S, 50° 10′ W, Municipality of São Francisco de Paula, Serra Geral, 960 m a.s.l., State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil".

Podonectes cardosoi — Garda and Cannatella, 2007, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 44: 104. Invalid combination.

Known only from open grasslands in the southern regions of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and in adjacent Paraná, Brazil

External adult and larval morphology, advertisement call, and life history were detailed in the original publicaiton. Lingnau and Di-Bernardo, 2006, Herpetol. Rev., 37: 238, provided the Santa Catarina record and discussed the range. Conte, Nomura, Machado, Kwet, Lingnau, and Rossa-Feres, 2010, Biota Neotrop., São Paulo, 10: 201–224, discussed the range, natural history, and advertisement call.
