Comment
See Caramaschi and Cruz, 1998, Rev. Brasil. Zool., 15: 929-944, for revalidation, resurrection from the synonymy of Pseudis paradoxa (where it had been placed by Gallardo, 1961, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 125: 118) and account. De la Riva, 1999, Brit. J. Herpetol., 68: 14-19, discussed this species as a race of Pseudis paradoxa, but did not address the taxonomic issue. Garda, Santana, and São Pedro, 2010, Zootaxa, 2666: 1–28, discussed the systematics, geographic distribution, external morphology and morphometrics, as well as providing a dot map. Gatto, Seger, and Garcia, 2019, Genes, 10 (160): 1–19, reported on satellite DNA mapping. Souza-Costa, Solé, Mira-Mendes, Suzart Argôlo, and Dias, 2024, ZooKeys, 1217: 215–246, provided a record from the municipality of Potiraguá, Bahia, Brazil. Caballero-Gini, Brusquetti, Bueno-Villafañe, Quinteros-Muñoz, Jairam, Rodrigues, Haddad, Fernández Ríos, and Baldo, 2024, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 202: 1–13, reported on molecular phylogenetics, placed this species in their Pseudis paradoxa clade, and provided a polygon range map.
