Comment
Until McCranie and Wilson, 1993, Southwest. Nat., 38: 100–104, sorted out the confusion surrounding types, this species was confused with Ptychohyla spinipollex. In the Ptychohyla euthysanota group according to the original publication. See accounts by Duellman, 2001, Hylid Frogs Middle Am., Ed. 2: 1026–1027, and McCranie and Wilson, 2002, Amph. Honduras: 311–316, and noted the possibility of additional species under this name. McCranie, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 38, summarized the departmental distribution in Honduras. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 277. Lovich, Akre, Ryan, Nunez, Ford, Cruz-Díaz, Borjas, Scott, Flores, Del Cid, Flores, Rodriguez, and Luque-Montes, 2010, Herpetol. Rev., 41: 112–116, provided a new record for Honduas and commented on the range. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 256–261, provided a brief summary of natural history and identification key for the species of Ptychohyla in Central America and provided a range map and photograph for this species. Gonzalez-Mollinedo and Marmól-Acatán, 2019, Herpetol. Rev., 50: 98, provided new records for Guatemala and discussed the range. Townsend, Herrera-B., Hofmann, Luque-Montes, Ross, Dudek, Krygeris, Duchamp, and Wilson, 2020, Vert. Zool., Senckenberg, 70: 735, provided a dot map. Martínez-Fonseca, Holmes, Sunyer, Westeen, Grundler, Cerda, Fernández-Mena, Loza-Molina, Monagan, Nondorf, Pandelis, and Rabosky, 2024, Check List, 20: 71, provided and discussed a record from Las Brisas del Mogotón, Departamento Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua.
