Hyla ameibothalame Canseco-Márquez, Mendelson, and Gutiérrez-Mayén, 2002, Herpetologica, 58: 261. Holotype: EBUAP 1024, by original designation. Type locality: "1 km S Yoxocuno, Municipality of San Pedro Nopala, 2455 m (17° 51′ N, 97° 34′ W), Mixteca Alta, Oaxaca, México".

Mixteca Alta Treefrog (Liner and Casas-Andreu, 2008, Herpetol. Circ., 38: 19).
Distribution
Known only from two localities in northwestern Oaxaca, Mexico: Yosocuno and near Nativitas, in pine-oak forest at 2455–2670 m elevation.

Comment
In the Hyla bistincta group according to the original publication. In the Plectrohyla bistincta group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 105. Caviedes-Solis, Vázquez-Vega, Solano-Zavaleta, Pérez-Ramos, Rovito, Devitt, Heimes, Flores-Villela, Campbell, and Nieto-Montes de Oca, 2015, Mesoam. Herpetol., 2: 230–241, reported the species from the second locality. See comments by Cisneros-Bernal, Palacios-Aguilar, Medina-Bernal, Campillo-G., and Rivera-Reyes, 2020, North-West. J. Zool., Romania, 16: 224, on the possibility of misidentification of the larvae mentioned in the original description.
