Comment

See Lutz, 1973, Brazil. Spec. Hyla: 161. Pombal, Bastos, and Haddad, 1995, Naturalia, São Paulo, 20: 213–225, reported on the advertisement call. Pombal, Haddad, and Kasahara, 1995, J. Herpetol., 29: 5, noted that this name may cover more than one species, and included it in the Scinax ruber group. The Scinax ruber group rejected as nonmonophyletic by Faivovich, 2002, Cladistics, 18: 367-393. In the Scinax ruber clade, unassigned to group, of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 97. See account by Bokermann, 1967, An. Acad. Brasil. Cienc., 39: 437-440. Canelas and Bertoluci, 2007, Iheringia, Zool., 97: 21-26, provided a record for the Serra do Caraça, southern end of the Serra do Espinhaço, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Eterovick and Sazima, 2004, Anf. Serra do Cipó: 63-64, provided a photograph and brief account (as Scinax cf. duartei). Magrini, Carvalho-e-Silva, Béda, and Giaretta, 2011, Zootaxa, 3066: 37-51, reported on the advertisement call and suggested that disagreement with previous description of the call suggests the presence of a cryptic species. In the Scinax granulatus group of Araujo-Vieira, Lourenço, Lacerda, Lyra, Blotto, Ron, Baldo, Pereyra, Suárez-Mayorga, Baêta, Ferreira, Barrio-Amorós, Borteiro, Brandão, Brasileiro, Donnelly, Dubeux, Köhler, Kolenc, Leite, Maciel, Nunes, Orrico, Peloso, Pezzuti, Reichle, Rojas-Runjaic, Silva, Sturaro, Langone, Garcia, Rodrigues, Frost, Wheeler, Grant, Pombal, Haddad, and Faivovich, 2023, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 27 (Special Issue): 104 (see comment under Hylinae).
