Type locality: "Mata do Campo Limpo, Parque Estadual das Sete Passagens, Municipality of Miguel Calmon (11°23′49″S, 40°31′37″W; 1040 m above sea level [asl]; datum 5 WGS84 for all coordinates), Bahia State, Brazil".

In the Scinax ruber clade according to the original publication. Lopes, Bang, and Giaretta, 2019, Neotropical Biodiversity, 5: 41–46, reported on the advertisement call.
