Common Names

Spiny-knee Leaf Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 61).

Distribution

Known only from the type locality (Municipality of Santo André, Paranapiacaba, Alto da Serra, São Paulo) and Municipality of Guaratuba, Serra da Pedra Branca de Araraquara, Paraná, Brazil.

Geographic Occurrence

Natural Resident: Brazil

Endemic: Brazil

World: 137, who regarded the species as extinct. See account by Baêta, Giasson, Pombal, and Haddad, 2016, Herpetol. Monogr., 30: 54–56, who regarded the species as extinct and the tadpole and advertisement call unknown. Baêta and Pombal, 2024, Ichthyol. & Herpetol., 112: 418–428, reported a second specimen from Paraná, Brazil, provided a dot map for its distribution, and discussed misidentifications of Phrynomedusa fimbriata and Phrynomedusa appendiculata.
