Phrynomedusa vanzolinii Cruz, 1991, Rev. Brasil. Biol., 51: 272. Holotype: MZUSP 37669, by original designation. Type locality: "Boraceia, Estado de São Paulo," Brazil.

Common Names

Vanzolini's Leaf Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 61).

Distribution

Known only for two localities: Estação Biológica de Boracéia, município de Salesópolis, state of São Paulo, and município de Teresópolis, state of Rio de Janeiro, southeastern Brazil.

Natural Resident: Brazil

Endemic: Brazil

Comment

According to the original publication the larvae of this species were figured by Lutz and Lutz, 1939, An. Acad. Brasil. Cienc., 11: 219-254 (as Phyllomedusa appendiculata) and by Cruz, 1983 "1982", Arq. Univ. Fed. Rural Rio de Janeiro, 5: 147-171 (as Phyllomedusa fimbriata). See review by Baêta, Giasson, Pombal, and Haddad, 2016, Herpetol. Monogr., 30: 62–64, who noted that the advertisement call is unknown.
