Pseudis tocantins Caramaschi and Cruz, 1998, Rev. Brasil. Zool., 15: 940. Holotype: MNRJ 11338, by original designation. Type locality: "Porto Nacional (10° 42′ S, 48° 25′ W, 212 m altitude), margem direita do rio Tocantins, Tocantins, Brasil".

Distribution
Known only from the type locality in the state of Tocantins, Brazil, as well as in Bananal Island National Park, Mato Grosso, Muncipality of Britania, Goiás, and Municipality of Porto Franco, Maranhão, Brazil.

Rev., 36: 334, provided a record for Maranhão, Brazil, and briefly summarized the known range of the species. Rodriguez, Börner, Pabijan, Gehara, Haddad, and Vences, 2015, Evol. Ecol., 29: 765–785 (and supplemental data), reported on phylogeographic diversity and its causes.
