Hylodes otavioi Sazima and Bokermann, 1983 "1982", Rev. Brasil. Biol., 42: 767. Holotype: MNRJ 4163, by original designation. Type locality: "Km. 126 da estrada de Vespasiano a Conceição do Mato Dentro, Serra do Cipó, Jaboticatubas [now Santana do Riacho], Minas Gerais", Brazil.

Distribution
Known only from the type locality (Serra do Cipó, Minas Gerais, Brazil).
Comment
In the Hylodes lateristrigatus group, according to the original publication. See additional comments by Haddad and Pombal, 1995, Herpetologica, 51: 285. Eterovick and Sazima, 2004, Anf. Serra do Cipó: 81-82, provided a photograph and brief account. Eterovick, Souza, and Sazima, 2020, Anf. Serra do Cipó: 1–292, provided an account, life history information, and an identification scheme for the Serra de Cipó, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
