Hylodes pipilans Canedo and Pombal, 2007, Herpetologica, 63: 231. Holotype: MNRJ 33765, by original designation. Type locality: "near to the Soberbo River at Serra dos Órgãos (22° 22′ S, 42° 45′ W), Municipality of Guapimirim, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil". Coordinates corrected to 22°29′ S, 43°00′ W by Silva-Soares, Weber, and Salles, 2008, Check List, 4: 295-296.

Distribution
Known only from the Serra dos Órgãos, in the Municipalities of Cachoeiras de Macacu, Duque de Caxias, Guapimirim, Magé, Nova Iguaçu, and Petrópolis , state of Rio de Janeiro, southeastern Brazil, 245 to 814 m elevation.

Endemic: Brazil
Comment
Silva-Soares, Weber, and Salles, 2008, Check List, 4: 295–296, provided the first record away from the type locality. Carmo, Folly, and Malagoli, 2022, Neotropical Biodiversity, 8: 131–135, reported on the range and conservation status.
