Comment

Laurent, 1964, Evolution, 18: 458–467, suggested a close relationship with Hyperolius. Drewes, 1984, Occas. Pap. California Acad. Sci., 139: 39, concluded that Chrysobatrachus was the sister-taxon of Acanthixalus + Callixalus. Unassigned to subfamily by Nečas, Kielgast, Nagy, Chifundera, and Gvoždík, 2022, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 174 (107514): 8.
