Distribution

Western Rwanda (Nyungwe and Gishwati Forests) and eastern Dem. Rep. Congo (Kivu Sud and Kivu Nord in and near Kahuzi-Biega National Park, Itombwe Plateau and Kabobo Plateau; expected in southwestern Uganda and northwestern Burundi.

Previous confused with Afrixalus laevis according to the original publication, where comparative morphology, morphometrics, molecular markers, advertisement call, and natural history were detailed. Dehling and Sinsch, 2023, Diversity, 15 (512): 1–81, discussed the range, identification, natural history, advertisement call, and conservation status in Rwanda.
