Distribution

Western and central Kenya (2 disjunct populations) and southern and northern Tanzania north to extreme southern Somalia; isolated records from the central Rift Valley and Harenna Forest (6.5949°N, 39.7543°E, elevation 1800 m), Ethiopia.

In the Hyperolius nasutus species group according to the original publication. Spawls, Wasonga, and Drewes, 2019, Amph. Kenya: 21, provided a range map for Kenya, photograph, and brief characterization. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 178–179, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map. Tiutenko, Spawls, and Zinenko, 2023, Herpetol. Notes, 16: 99–101, provided the record from the eastern Ethiopian Highlands, based on a mtDNA 16s assay for confirmation. Spawls, Mazuch, and Mohammad, 2023, Handb. Amph. Rept. NE Afr.: 70–71, provided an account addressing identification, natural history, conservation status, and range in Ethiopia and Somalia, including a polygon map.
